Crispian Plunkett, Nontsikelelo ’Lolo’ Veleko and Strangelove with Hannelie Coetzee

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Sanlam South African Fashion Week, Afronova invites you to the heart of the city for a photography exhibition featuring Crispian Plunkett, Nontsikelelo “Lolo” Veleko and Strangelove with Hannelie Coetzee.

Cape Town based Crispian Plunkett is a shining star in fashion photography. He is recognised in the industry for his ambiguous punk attitude and outrageous profile. Apart from his fashion work, this digital speed freak also nurtures pioneering personal work, often deliberately unglamorous, where heresy is made cult.

Fine Art photographer Nontsikelelo “Lolo” Veleko’s works are colorful explorations of African contemporary style. They are the result of documentation and construction (directing) of urban street fashion culture in Johannesburg’s city center and surrounding townships. The resulting portraits express aspirations of wealth, power and individuality through experimentation with dress.

Hungry boys Carlo Gibson and Ziemek Pater, a.k.a Strangelove, are as equally comfortable in an art gallery, as they are in a fashion show or a dance festival. These designers will add a twist of acid in the mix of the evening, with new photographs of recent collaborative works with Hannelie Coetzee, where the garment is a catalyst to fuse elements. Expect some intervention/disruption by these masquerade junkies.
